English પદ્ધતિ — One Word Substitution

1. One Word Substitution શું છે? — પાયો સમજો

આખા વાક્ય કે phrase ને બદલે એક જ શબ્દ વાપરવો — એને One Word Substitution કહે છે. Groups અને suffix પ્રમાણે યાદ રાખો તો ઝડપથી આવડે.

વ્યાખ્યા (સાદી ભાષામાં)

•One Word Substitution એટલે — એક લાંબા phrase ('a person who...', 'a place where...') માટે ચોક્કસ એક જ English શબ્દ.
•ઉદાહરણ: 'A person who studies the stars and planets' = Astronomer (ખગોળશાસ્ત્રી). આખું વાક્ય બોલવાને બદલે એક શબ્દ.
•GSSSB CCE માં આ topic માંથી દર વખતે પ્રશ્નો આવે છે — ઓછા સમયમાં વધારે માર્ક્સ મળે તેવો વિભાગ છે.

યાદ રાખવાની સ્માર્ટ રીત — Groups + Suffixes

•એક-એક શબ્દ છૂટો યાદ ન કરો. Groups બનાવો: People (વ્યક્તિ), Place (જગ્યા), Government (સરકાર), Killing (હત્યા), Fear (ડર), Eating (ખાનાર), Behaviour (સ્વભાવ).
•Suffix (શબ્દનો અંત) મોટું hint આપે: -cide = killing (હત્યા), -phobia = fear (ડર), -cracy = rule (શાસન), -logy = study (અભ્યાસ), -vorous = eating (ખાનાર).
•Suffix ઓળખાય તો અડધો જવાબ ત્યાં જ મળી જાય — option માંથી સાચું પસંદ કરવું સહેલું થઈ જાય.

ભૂલ ન કરો — Confusing જોડી ધ્યાનમાં રાખો

•Astronomer (તારા-ગ્રહનો અભ્યાસ, વિજ્ઞાન) ≠ Astrologer (ભવિષ્ય ભાખનાર, જ્યોતિષી).
•Illiterate (નિરક્ષર — વાંચી-લખી ન શકે) ≠ Ignorant (અજાણ — જાણકારી ન હોય).
•Carnivore (પ્રાણી — માંસાહારી) ≠ Cannibal (માણસ — માણસનું માંસ ખાનાર).
•Options એકસરખા લાગે ત્યારે meaning ની ચોકસાઈ જ સાચા-ખોટાનો ભેદ પાડે.

2. પદ્ધતિ — Suffix Clues થી જવાબ શોધો

શબ્દના છેલ્લા ભાગ (suffix) પરથી અર્થ ઓળખવાની ટ્રિક: -cide, -phobia, -cracy, -logy, -vorous.

પદ્ધતિ (Step-by-step)

Step 1: Phrase માં મુખ્ય idea શોધો — killing? fear? rule? study? eating? કોના વિશે વાત છે.
Step 2: એ idea નો suffix યાદ કરો — killing → -cide, fear → -phobia, rule → -cracy, study → -logy, eating → -vorous.
Step 3: Options માં એ suffix વાળો શબ્દ શોધો. દા.ત. 'killing of a king' હોય તો અંતમાં -cide વાળું option જુઓ.
Step 4: શરૂઆતનો ભાગ (root) મેળવો — homo (man), geno (race), sui (self), hydro (water), demo (people). Root + suffix = જવાબ.
Step 5: બાકીના options ખોટા સાબિત કરો — જેનો suffix મેળ ન ખાય તે કાઢી નાખો.

30 સેકન્ડ ટ્રિક

-cide = killing (હત્યા) → homicide, suicide, genocide.
-phobia = fear (ડર) → claustrophobia, hydrophobia.
-cracy = rule/government (શાસન) → democracy, autocracy.
-logy = study of (નો અભ્યાસ) → biology, geology, zoology.
-vorous = eating (ખાનાર) → carnivorous, herbivorous, omnivorous.
Bonus root: -phile = lover (પ્રેમી), -phobe = hater/fearer, omni- = all (બધું).

ઉદાહરણ (ઉકેલ સાથે)

પ્રશ્ન: 'The killing of one's own self' → idea = killing → suffix -cide → root sui (self) → જવાબ: Suicide (આત્મહત્યા).
પ્રશ્ન: 'Fear of water' → idea = fear → suffix -phobia → root hydro (water) → જવાબ: Hydrophobia (પાણીનો ડર).
પ્રશ્ન: 'Government by the people' → idea = rule → suffix -cracy → root demo (people) → જવાબ: Democracy (લોકશાહી).
પ્રશ્ન: 'Animals that eat only flesh' → idea = eating → suffix -vorous/-vore → root carni (flesh) → જવાબ: Carnivore (માંસાહારી).

3. List — People / Professions (વ્યક્તિ અને વ્યવસાય)

વ્યક્તિ વિશેના common phrases અને તેમના એક-શબ્દ જવાબો.
